Is the Haworth Hotel part of Hope College?

Haworth Hotel was built by Hope College in 1997 to strengthen the relationship between the college and the city of Holland. The college continues to own and operate the hotel. Our ties to Hope bring us to the next level, offering guests a new realm of possibilities.

Can I hold my meeting or event at Haworth Hotel?

Yes! Whether it’s a small, intimate meeting in one of our conference rooms, a retirement dinner in one of our inspirational and versatile event spaces or a three-day conference using various rooms, Haworth Hotel and Conference Center offers flexibility. Contact our event staff for more information.

Who designed the space?

Patricia Urquiola and her studio led the design efforts for the Haworth Hotel. She is internationally known for playful and poetic products and spaces that are still pragmatic and functional. This creative combination is the magic behind her work and unique, European flair. The project at Hope is Urquiola’s first installation in Michigan–some of her recent installations include Vogue headquarters, Italy’s first Starbucks, and a BMW showroom.

The layered audience that uses the Haworth Hotel provides unique opportunities in designing the renovated space. The result is an innovative, warm, playful, smart, and sophisticated balance of multiple brand experiences.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in begins at 3:00 PM on the day of arrival, and checkout is 12:00 PM on the day of departure. Early check-in is not guaranteed. A late check-out must be requested the morning of your departure with our front desk.

Can I cancel my reservation?

Yes, cancellations are accepted if made at least 24 hours before the day of your arrival. If a reservation is cancelled within the 24-hour window, charges may apply. For fully refundable or prepaid rates booked through third-party sites, cancellation terms may vary – please check the website policies when booking.

Are there any age requirements to check in?

Guests must be 18 years or older, a credit card is also required for check-in.

Where is the hotel located?

The hotel is in downtown Holland on Hope College’s campus. We are within walking distance of shops, restaurants, nightlife, and local attractions like beaches, parks, and museums.

What nearby attractions are there?

Guests can enjoy Lake Michigan beaches,  the Tulip Time Festival in May, Windmill Island Gardens, Holland’s Ice Park during the winter months, downtown shopping and dining, and Hope College events.

Can you cater our meeting or event?

Yes. Our talented on-site culinary professionals have designed an exciting new menu full of exquisite options that are sure to make your event stand out. Featuring thoughtfully curated dishes paired with a selection of wines, craft cocktails, and premium bar offerings.

Are cribs available?

We have pack-n-plays available for rooms. Guests can call ahead if they want one placed in their room before arrival.

 Are pets allowed at the hotel?

Pets are not permitted on the property. However, ADA service animals are welcome.

Is housekeeping provided daily?

Housekeeping services are offered every other day. You can contact the front desk for any specific requests.

Does the hotel have food or beverage options?

Yes, there is a coffee shop in the lobby that offers a variety of coffee drinks and snacks. There is a bookstore and a mini-market on-site. For full meals, there is a wide variety of restaurants within walking distance in downtown Holland.

Do you have accessible lodging options?

Haworth Hotel is committed to meeting all our guest’s accessibility needs. We offer four accessible lodging rooms.

Are your reception, meeting, event and lobby spaces accessible?

We consider accessible needs when creating meeting and conference room setups. Our front desk and Biggby Coffee include counters at accessible heights and the tables in our café are designed for easy wheelchair access.

Are your events accessible?

If you are planning an event, we’ll work to meet any accommodations your guests may require. With thoughtful planning throughout every step of the process, we can create accessible and inclusive experiences from the outset rather than attempt to retrofit a meeting or event at the last minute.

Do event spaces have hearing loops?

We are pleased to offer a hearing loop system in the ballroom. Participants with hearing aids can simply switch their device to T-Coil and they’ll be able to hear any person using a microphone very clearly.

If you expect to have audience participation, please remember to have a microphone for those asking questions, even for people with a loud voice, since the microphone allows those with hearing loss to fully participate in the event.

Is the hotel accessible for guests with disabilities?

Yes, Haworth Hotel offers accessible guest rooms, meeting spaces, counters, and café seating.

Parking & Transportation

Is parking available?

Yes, the hotel offers complimentary parking. Be sure to display your parking pass by hanging it on your mirror. The front desk will give you information about all of the available parking lots around the hotel.

Is street parking available?

Overnight street parking is not available, and parking in unauthorized areas may result in ticketing.

Weddings

How far in advance should we book?

Popular dates can book 12–18+ months in advance. Ask the sales coordinator for specific timelines. 

How many guests can the ballroom accommodate?

The ballroom space can hold up to about 250 guests, and the space has flexible set-up options.

Is there a rental fee for weddings?

Yes, there is a rental fee for receptions and, if applicable, ceremonies. Starting fees (e.g., peak and off-peak) include many event essentials.

What does the rental fee include?

Inclusions are:

• Menu tastings
• Chairs, tables, linens
• China, glassware, flatware
• Setup & cleanup (including the dance floor)
• Event planning support
• Lighting and audio setup

Do you require a deposit for booking or holding a date?

We can hold a date up to 5 business days without a deposit or completed contract.  The booking deposit is 50% of the total meeting room rental fee. 

How many hours are included in the rental, and are there costs for extra time?

The rental fee includes a 12-hour window.  If extra time is requested, there are additional fees.  

Are there minimum guest counts or spending requirements?

There’s no strict minimum, but food & beverage minimums may apply depending on the room and season.

Does the venue provide catering?

Yes, exclusive full-service on-site catering with customizable menus that change seasonally.

Do you have bar services?

Yes, multiple bar package options are available. Your coordinator can explain pricing, drink options, and bartender services.

Can we bring our own cake or outside food?

Outside wedding cakes are allowed, with the venue providing services. Ask your sales coordinator for any cutting or service fees associated with bringing in an outside cake. 

Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the meeting and event spaces.

Is there a space for getting ready?

Yes, there are additional space options for the wedding party to prepare before the ceremony.

Is the venue accessible for guests with mobility needs?

Most hotel and event spaces strive to be wheelchair accessible; confirm specific needs with your coordinator. 

Will someone help coordinate the wedding day?

Yes, an event coordinator assists with planning details and logistics leading up to your wedding.

When do we need to finalize details like guest counts and menus?

Typically, menu selections need to be confirmed several weeks before the event, and guest counts need to be confirmed one week before the event. Your coordinator can give exact deadlines.

Can we schedule a site visit or tour?

Absolutely! It’s recommended to do a tour before booking to confirm spaces, flow, and logistics.
